I have always wanted to build a 1911. There are so many companies now offering components for such project I do not know where to start. Any ideas? How do I know the parts will fit?

What kind of 1911 is your uncle building? I was thinking about doing either a classical Colt 1911 A1 or a Wilson combat frame. At the same time I would like to do something more custom and more original. I am fishing around for ideas.

I put together an Ed Brown Frame with a Wilson Combat Slide. It is a sweet arrangement. I have yet to see it jam.
